Not many people use blinds these days. Curtains are not only cheaper, if you really want something that looks better, you can go for venetian blinds. Not only are they better looking, they are also a permanent fixture and do not need any maintenance like washing etc.
Yet the plain blinds are still very useful in certain situations. Take for example your children’s rooms. If you have older kids then curtains are good because they will give your kids the feeling of being grown up but if you have smaller ones, it may be a good idea to get blinds simply because you never know what will happen with small kids.
The good thing about a blind is that whatever happens, all you need to do is to wipe it with a wet cloth and it’s clean once again. There is no stain that will cling to the material, unless of course you go for the cloth ones. Plus you can also get patterned ones just the same as curtains.
Another place where you can use blinds is the kitchen. Many people do not realize it but the kitchen is not the place where you should be having curtains. Not only will they get dirty much more quickly, it is a potential fire hazard, especially if you have your window above your range.
Going in for kitchen blinds is a good solution here. Of course you will still have to wipe it every so often so that it does not get too grimy, but at least you can use the same one for years, unlike curtains that are not fit for anything once grease stains get on them. Plus there is no way that these blinds can be dangerous; they just don’t flap around the way curtains do.
